FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The length of time for Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparation varies depending on the student’s background and requirements for the B’nai Mitzvah service. If a student is starting with no Hebrew knowledge, 12-16 months of weekly tutoring is recommended. 

B’nai Mitzvah Academy is a supplement not substitute for synagogue membership. Consequently, we do not work with rabbis or other members of the clergy to lead Bar or Bat Mitzvah services. To learn more about the work we do, please read our Mission statement.

The “Self Study” Option is a one-time fee of $500. This includes an audio file with the Torah Portion and a print version of the Torah text with helpful markings to indicate the chant melody.

Private Lessons are $50 for a half hour and $90 for an hour long session.

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the session with no charge. If you cancel within 24 hours of the scheduled lesson, you will be charged for the lesson.
